  • Music For All

I’m sure people have very diverse views on the use of AI to create things. My view is that AI is tool to help us all create things that we may not have done before. In work I use it to help complete tasks that used to take me much more time and deliver functional results for my clients faster.

In my creative time I have been experimenting with using it to create music. This is a multistep process for me.

    • Thinking through what genre or band I want to try to emulate.
    • What I want a song to say on the concept level.
    • Feed as much context as I can think of into an AI to write lyrics.
    • Review those lyrics and tweak them by either providing how I want them adjusted back into AI or making the adjustments in a document myself.
    • Put the lyrics together with a style description in a music generation AI like Suno to get the first version of the song produced.
    • Listen to what was generated, with Suno that means two variations based on the lyrics and style.

At this point either I am satisfied with the result or think through how I need to tweak the lyrics or style to get closer to what I was hoping for.

For me it is interesting to see how different a small tweak or even just running the same lyrics and style a second time can generate something completely different from the first run.

Here is a song related to Minecraft, called Crafting, where I used the same lyrics but adjusted the style through multiple iterations.

    Original

    Lo-fi Remix

    1920s Remix

    1930s Remix

    Trampled by Turtles/Avett Brothers Remix

Trampled by Turtles/Avett Brothers Extended Remix

I hope this inspires you to try out some AI to see what it can help you create for sharing or just for your own enjoyment!

If you’d like to use the song for something you create, I just ask that you follow the Creative Commons License for CC BY-NC-SA and disclose that the original work was created using Suno AI.

  • Empty Nest

I have enjoyed several songs by Silversun Pickups over the years, this one recently came up in my Spotify Discover Weekly playlist.

  • I’ve Been Quiet

It’s been quite awhile since I posted any songs to my blog here. Well, look out for some posts over the next few weeks as I’ve listened to a lot of music since my last post!

  • The Sound of Silence

So I have been listening to a lot of covers lately and have found some very good ones. Here is one that is sort of a cover of a cover. The Sound of Silence was covered by Disturbed and Cole Rolland covers it featuring Steve Glasford on vocals.

  • Shelter

I have really been enjoying this song by Porter Robinson.

  • Awake

    Wake up to this song.

  • Pick Up The Phone

Another week down. Another song found.

  • All I See

    It’s Friday! Enjoy.

  • Aftergold

Here is an interesting song sent to me by fellow DJ, Dpb+J. The artist is Big Wild and the song has an interesting mix that reminds me of my trip to Africa.
